Peter Donnelly is an award winning Irish illustrator and children’s author living in Co. Wicklow.
For over 27 years he has collaborated with a wide range of international clients. His style is influenced by mid century, folk art and 1950/60s animation design. His work is commissioned in many areas from Austrian advent tea boxes and Irish luxury crisps packaging to UK pizza restaurants, American food brands and Australian magazine editorials. Outside of advertising he is known as a bestselling children’s picture book maker. He has been nominated 7 times for the Irish Children’s Book of the Year and won the award in 2018 and 2023.
His illustrations have been recognised by the IDI Irish Design Awards, The Creative Club Austria and the German Design Awards as well as being featured in Creative Quarterly: The Journal of Art and Design, 3x3 The Magazine of Contemporary Illustration, OFFSET and Taschen’s Illustration Now!
Peter began his career in the art of hand drawn feature animation and has worked on over 12 box office movies including The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Anastasia, The Thief and The Cobbler, The Prince of Egypt and Titan AE.
