Celtic Myths & Legends
Publisher : An Gum, Ireland.

Below are a selection of illustrations I made for a series of Celtic stories. The first set illustrate the story of Deirdre and Naoise (aka Deirdre of the Sorrows) and the second set, The Cattle Raid of Cooley. Both stories are set in Pre-Christian Ireland and are part of the rich folklore of Irish storytelling. The panels are shown in a random order.

Deirdre of the Sorrows
Deirdre is the foremost tragic heroine in Irish mythology and probably it's best known figure in modern times. It is a classic tale of forbidden love, betrayal and death.

'Táin Bó Cuailgne' (Translation: The Cattle Raid of Cooley)
The story of Queen Medb's desire and determination to match her husbands wealth by seeking out the brown bull of Cooley is one of the most famous tales in Irish mythology. Much of the story is centered around Cú Chulainn, who singlehandedly fights off Medb's army, killing each warrior one by one. Finally the Queen orders her warrior Firdhia to fight him. Although old friends, they fight long and hard until Firdhia is slain.
Thank You :)
